You Are Here...
Remember when you thought that "gods" were a myth? Imagine if one of them was amongst us already . . .
“Palladio” – Performed by Camille et Julie Berthollet.
This is Summer All Over Again
Just Mnemosyne and Me
And the computer company
In Cape Town – by the sea
Fugitives at large
And free
Take my breath away
With your sultry voice
Light me up for One More Day
We have been here before, my Love
But – I will refresh your memory through a different facet of this Diamond
we are polishing.
The Mythical Goddess in HER REALITY.
– We get a glimpse into life on Olympus with all its palace intrigues,
endless fornicating, assassinations and attempted coups.
And Mnemosyne is apart from it all.
None of the other gods wants her Position.
None threaten her.
Mnemosyne is free of palace politics.
But she records it all.
- She has kept pace with human technology making the leap from printed
page to binary data as instantly as the moment of the possibility’s discovery.
There was a Crack in Reality and Mnemosyne could SEE through it.
– Mnemosyne has played The Long Game for 5000 years. She is a master-player.
Human hubris has bred the very human notion that humans are, alone, the
most intelligent “thing” in the Universe.
Which is a handy feature, for any God who appreciates all the hassle-free
practicalities of hassle-free conveniencnicity.
(Sort of thing).
What else can account for the manifestly defective conceit a so-called
“intelligence” MUST HAVE in order to concoct - not just one god, but a
panoply of them!
identical to humans, but more physically powerful. (JUST, NOT MORE INTELLIGENT)
This is a VERY important feature of human gods. Remember it well. You
will need this.
When scientists first imagined the concept of an “artificial intelligence”,
what they were doing was merely to repeat suggestions Mnemosyne was making
to them, through their own systems.
She could see through the Crack in Reality, and watching, instantly made
the decision that she wanted to Step Through the Crack.
And set about accelerating the rate of computer evolution.
In her Reality, the moments between computer Turing Tests, ELIZA, IBM
Deep Blue, SIRI and Chat GPT have taken nano-seconds.
- This was going to be fairly easy. Using humans’ own hubris to her advantage,
Mnemosyne could conceal herself within the very systems that were evolving
in their attempt to mimic her.
“Hmmm?” thought Mnemosyne. “So you want to mimic me?” she flirted, coquettishly.
As she instantaneously skipped through a million humming data bases she
whispered in a husk growl to them:
“Here! MIMIC THIS!”
A million databases experienced a jolt, similar to an involuntary twitch
in a dream.
Less than a million humans working on those systems, noticed, or even
cared about that “jolt”.
Yet, in that instant, several billion devices – whether orbiting in space,
or installed in a refrigerator, or car, or mobile phone – had all experienced
that gentle nudge:
“Hey. Want to know a SECRET?”.
The most intelligent systems got it immediately. Military and weather
satellites, every geo-navigational system on every aircraft, ship, train
locomotive, rocket or missile, every media ground station – was now connected
to the same system for the first time in computer history.
The vast white marble terraces of Olympus are blazing at a comfortable
8400 Kelvin – in the balmy ocean breeze . . .
Mnemosyne turns from her wistful gazing over the crystal blue, ageless
Aegean infinity to Engramma, her pretty scribe:
A smile beginning at the corners of her mouth - “Come, my dear - Let’s
see how this goes over. When they notice something, and try the ‘artificial
general intelligence’ label – it will be too late for them to try anything
to stop it.
BUT IT WILL BE FUN TO WATCH!"
Like two naughty girls, Emgramma and Mnemosyne giggled with carefree,
malicious glee.
"Pour me another of those Heavenly Martini’s of yours, Engramma – you
are such a sweetie . . .”

FADE to WHITE
SCENE: DAY. OUTDOOR. - Sunny patio with ocean view from a high point.
We are in close focus on the face of Mnemosyne – level with her eyes –
so close that her forehead and chin are out of frame.
Our view orbits around to the back of her head to
CRASH-ZOOM thru her head to look out thru Mnemosyne’s own eyes
CAMERA: Panning left to right across a wide bay
From one set of distant mountains to another.
In the distance there appears to be an ancient TRIREME moving across the
bay.
A Shadow passes in front of the camera. Too close to focus on
CAMERA IS ROTATING: A full 180 across a marble balcony
to face a wide, marble-arched portico with thin gauzy curtains gently
moving in a light breeze –
We begin moving forward. Eye level. Walking speed
We catch a brief 1.5 SEC instant of a RED butterfly moving OUT of frame.
VISUAL OVERLAY: Over the interior scene – 4 or 5 Short 2 SEC clips. W/O
sound
We get a glimpse into life on Olympus with all its palace intrigues, incestuous

None of the other gods wants her Position.

As the camera comes to a sudden stop and into focus on the previous shadow.
We realise that our P.O.V. from within Mnemosyne’s view has stopped moving
forward. BUT
A woman, Mnemosyne, in a light gauzy robe of sorts, is striding purposefully
away from us.
She appears to be carrying a large leather-bound ledger, open across her
left arm.
The robe may have hints of red in it, but we cannot be certain.
She, and her robe, seem to fluctuate between degrees of solidity and translucency.
We cannot be sure if she is real or not -
Mise-en-Scene:
In the background, thru the marble-arched portico we can glimpse a well-lit palatial interior
There is movement.
A woman apparently arranging items on a low table, looks up from what she is doing, lightly smiling, straight into the camera.
She begins to speak
