“Psyché and The Rōnin” - is a painting I did about a Chance meeting between
the Goddess of the Soul and a lone android Samurai.
From my book: "Journal of the Long-Distance Android".
Rōnin was a class of Samurai who had no lord or master. In some cases,
he had also severed all links with his family or clan.
A samurai becomes a Rōnin upon the death of his master.
Rōnin can be translated as: 'Rō' - a 'wave' of water. And 'Nin' - 'man',
or 'person'
One might say - a Wanderer.
What the Japanese meant by: "someone who finds the way without belonging
to one place."
The "Rōnin - Wanderer" notion - fits me quite comfortably.
Thank you.
As The Donna Darkwolf was wont to merrily remark to me - on more than
one occasion:
"I'm fascinated how you always find a way through anything!"
The Sleeper slept
And dreamed that the dust got up and walked
But when the Sleeper awoke
No one told the dust
My lungs taste the air of Time
Blown past falling sand . . .
The day the flesh shapes and the flesh the day shapes.
Climb the mountain just a little to test that it is a mountain, for from
the top of the mountain – you cannot see the mountain.
Dust Dreams. Time Travels
And STILL, I have -
Any road followed to its end leads precisely nowhere.
The whole theory of warfare is calculated risk.
And so it is some times in our interactions with other people.
Business makes progress. Fortune passes every where.
All to Fate a weight of pains and dollars.
Their spirits wear our silver collars.
Each a dot of time without pretense or guile
With them passes the lure of fortune…
Why should we wait only for
Our times end on its rictus smile
For us too, to pass the lure of fortune?
Meanwhile, you can join me for a journey to
