You Are Here...
Mnemosyne - the Goddess of Memory watches Time flow by . . .
“The Butterfly counts not months but moments, and has Time enough.”
Rabindranath Tagore
Seconds. Moments. Hours become weeks become years.
And a lifetime is drowned away in the endless wash of Time.
A droplet amongst a myriad droplets
Flowing endlessly in an Eternal rush
Towards the unknown and unknowable -
Whose incessant thunder is drowned out
By the sound of her wings
As Mnemosyne flutters from memory to memory.
When she turns her flight toward you . . .
Where will you be?
What will you be doing?
As Mnemosyne flutters from memory to memory
You might hear her whisper:
"You have been here before. Remember?"
Will YOU remember having been here before?
Bastet, Goddess of protection, pleasure, and the bringer of good health,
is the daughter of Ra, Egyptian God of the Sun.
Called the “Lady of the East”, “Goddess of the Rising Sun”, and “The Sacred
and All-Seeing Eye”, Bastet is by Ra's side day and night.
Riding through the sky each day with Ra, protecting him as his boat pulls
the sun through the sky.
At night, she becomes a cat to protect Ra from Apep, the deadly serpent.
As ephemeral as Reality. As permanent as Life.
Mnemosyne watches sometimes with sadness, other time with barely concealed
mirth.
She flits in and out of your memory, just on the periphery of your vision.
If you see her resting – wonder at the beauty of her serene stillness
– for when she starts to move again, your eye will barely be able to follow
her.
But listen.
The beat of her wings will drown out all sound.
For a moment Time will appear to cease flowing – and just as you hear
the Silence, the beat of Mnemosyne’s wings will waft you away on another
thought.
A bright elusive butterfly.
Forever dancing.
Forever unattainable.
Forever.
Forever
"The Lost Waltz" - Composed by: Milo Cantor
The Goddess of Memory recalls every moment - waking or dreaming.
She sees Memories born and watches them disappear . . .
Only to re-appear, again.
In a different form - yet the Memory is the same -
I have a story here. It is from an old memory.
But I transformed it into a new idea - which itself, has become another
old memory - It is:
