Marisol and her Wild Pink Isetta - What a Difference a Lay Makes

I met Marisol on a beach in Bracknell in 1995.
It was the wild pink duo-tone of her Isetta that caught my eye first.
I only saw her later as she got out of the car.
I figured she couldn't be more than about 24.

It so happened that she had this playing when she opened her car door and stepped out, as I was passing.
So - being the gentleman that I am I paused to hold her door open, while she got all of her beach things together.
and we strolled down to the beach and the sea together.

When she told me her name was Marisol, (she was Portuguese), I ventured: “like ‘mar Y sol’, ‘sea AND sun’ in Spanish” - waving my arm out over the vista of sea and sun on Bracknell's Noordhoek Beach.

I sang to her: “What a difference a day makes”, as I opened the bottle of wine I had brought with me.
She was surprised.
Even more so – when I magically produced two wine glasses.
I explained that I ALWAYS carried TWO glasses – “Just in case. . . “

I introduced myself by commenting on her car.
She had gotten it from her father. Who had kept (and restored) it when he got it from his deceased father’s garage.

Me - being me - one thing led to another - and we had a wild summer romance.
Marisol and Me.
She was only in Bracknell for 3 months.
But, she had as good moved in with me for the entire duration of her stay - before having to return to Johannesburg - and university.

I was right about her being 24.
We celebrated her 24th birthday on 2 January, the day after my own birthday.
Two goats.
